KHARTOUM - General Abdul Fattah Al Burhan Abdulrahman held a summit meeting with the President of the Republic of South Sudan, General Salva Kiir Mayardit. The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of boosting them. Following the bilateral summit, a joint meeting was held between the military council headed by Lt. Gen. Abdul Fattah al-Burhan and the delegation of the Government of South Sudan, which is visiting the country today, under the chairmanship of President Salva Kiir Mayardit. He focused mainly on security and peace issues between the two countries.
Mike Deng, Minister of Presidential Affairs of the Government of Southern Sudan, said in a press statement that the joint meeting secured the necessity of cooperation between the two countries to consolidate the pillars of peace and stability in both countries. He added that the meeting also touched on arrangements for establishing peace in the Republic of Sudan.
President Salva Kiir stressed his readiness to help achieve peace in Sudan by contacting the movements carrying arms and convincing them of the importance of reaching a peace agreement, he said, adding that this year will be a year of peace for both countries.
Joint cooperation between the two countries in various other issues. The President of the Republic of South Sudan and his accompanying delegation left the country after participating in the celebrations of the country by signing the transitional authority documents between the military council and the forces of the Declaration of Freedom and Change.
