The Presidency of the State

The President of the State, is the Head of the State – whether that was the President of the Supreme Council of State, President of the Republic or Chairman or President of a military Council. The period 1956, till now (in 2008), had witnessed political and constitutional developments, during which political systems had changed. This, necessarily led to changes in forms of Governments, amendments in the Constitution and in many instances, included the system of rule and the separation of political, sovereignty and executive powers. In others, there was a complete separation of powers; while in some of these instances, there was a combination of political and sovereignty powers, in accordance with the ruling regime – whether it was multi – party, or totalitarian.
